Special Education Coordinator
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM; Friday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
Salary: $40,000 Annual Salary

Position Overview
PEEK NY is seeking a Part-Time Special Education Coordinator to support our growing preschool special education programs. This position will provide instructional leadership and support to two SCIS (Special Class in an Integrated Setting) preschool classrooms while also assisting with SEIT program operations and case management processes.
The Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Educational Director, classroom staff, related service providers, and families to promote high-quality instruction, ensure compliance, support staff development, and help build effective systems across programs. This role is ideal for a motivated special educator who enjoys coaching teachers, strengthening programs, and supporting student success.
Key Responsibilities
SCIS Program Support
- Support two preschool SCIS classrooms through coaching, mentoring, and instructional support.
- Assist teachers with IEP implementation, accommodations, behavior supports, differentiated instruction, and classroom modifications.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to support instructional quality.
- Review lesson plans, progress reports, and educational documentation for quality, accuracy, and compliance.
- Monitor student progress and support effective implementation of individualized goals and supports.
- Collaborate with related service providers and classroom teams to ensure coordinated service delivery.
- Support compliance with NYSED preschool special education regulations and CPSE requirements.
Family Collaboration
- Partner with families regarding student progress and educational supports.
- Participate in family meetings, conferences, and educational discussions as needed.
- Support positive, strengths-based communication between home and school.
- Help families better understand student goals, progress, and educational programming.
SEIT Program Support
- Assist with SEIT case processing, documentation review, and data management.
- Support onboarding, case assignment workflows, and service implementation.
- Enter and maintain student, provider, and case-related information within agency systems.
- Collaborate with agency leadership to support efficient operations, compliance, and service delivery.
Qualifications
- NYS Special Education Certification required (Birth–Grade 2 or All Grades).
- Experience working with preschool-aged students with disabilities.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting educational staff preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency with technology and electronic documentation systems.
Additional Information
Monday and Friday availability is required. Final scheduling will be determined collaboratively based on program needs.
This position is contingent upon final program approval and operational needs, with an anticipated start date of September 2026.
