Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Asphalt Paver Operator to join our civil infrastructure team. Duties
- Operate asphalt pavers, screeds, and related paving equipment to lay bituminous materials efficiently and accurately according to project specifications
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of paving machinery, including concrete mixers, loaders, and screeds, ensuring optimal performance and safety compliance
- Assist with the preparation of construction sites by managing materials such as concrete and bituminous mixtures, ensuring proper placement and compaction
- Follow DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety protocols during all phases of paving operations to maintain a safe work environment
- Coordinate with team members on concrete pumping, rebar installation, and other site activities to ensure seamless project execution
- Drive commercial trucks as needed for transporting materials or equipment around the site or between locations
- Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, safety checks, and project progress reports
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of heavy equipment operation including asphalt pavers, loaders, concrete mixers, and screeds
- Strong mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and performing basic repairs on construction machinery
- Experience working on construction projects in a civil infrastructure setting with a focus on paving or road construction
- Ability to perform basic math calculations related to measurements, quantities of materials, and project dimensions
- Familiarity with safety regulations including OSHA standards, DOT regulations, and site-specific safety protocols
- Skilled in construction machinery maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan
- Working knowledge of concrete handling processes such as mixing, pouring, pumping, rebar installation, and finishing techniques
- Valid commercial vehicle license with experience operating trucks for material transport
- Ability to work effectively in physically demanding environments while adhering to safety protocol adherence at all times
