McAllister Center Assistant Manager
LOCATION:
McAllister Recreation Center
HOURS:
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday; some evenings, weekends and holidays may be required
SALARY:
$2,501.36 - $2,880.55 bi-weekly
DESCRIPTION:
Assists with the management of all recreation and facility operations including the following: daily
operations, program development, implementation and evaluation, community engagement, fund
development, and supervision of personnel. Assists with the evaluation of the on-going recreational
needs of the community and identifying current trends in recreation. Coordinates a variety of
recreational activities and programs within the community. Organizes, leads, and implements various
recreational, social and educational programs. Assists with the development, implementation and
management of a comprehensive volunteer program. Prepares and submits proposals for programs
and annual reports. Recruits, supervises, and directs assigned personnel providing training and
corrective instruction. Assists with the administration of area budget, including monitoring revenue and
expenditures and preparation of reports as required. Develops alternate funding sources, such as
grants, public/private partnerships, and sponsorships. Compiles and prepares statistical and narrative
information for the evaluation of on-going programs. All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Administration, or
Business related field. Demonstrated accounting, data entry, and computer experience is preferred.
Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may substitute for formal education.
Certification in CPR and First Aid and Certified Leisure Professional preferred. Must be able to
supervise and direct assigned personnel. Must possess valid driver’s license and demonstrated safe
driving record. Must have an enthusiastic and engaging personality, be highly organized, and have
excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must possess ability to thrive in a team-setting
amidst frequent distractions and interruptions. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
with co-workers, other City departments, vendors, funding and regulatory agencies, and the public
including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities. Thorough
knowledge of Department and City practices, policies and procedures, and ability to apply such
knowledge to a variety of interrelated processes, tasks and operations. Must be able to meet
attendance requirements and have the ability to occasionally work extended, weekend and/or evening
hours.
