Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Cold Environment Warehouse Operative to join our team in managing operations within refrigerated and freezer conditions. This role is essential for ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate handling of goods in cold storage facilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong warehouse skills, experience operating heavy equipment, and a commitment to safety protocols in challenging environments. Duties
- Operate heavy equipment such as reach trucks, forklifts, and pallet jacks to load, unload, and transport goods within cold storage areas
- Manage order picking and packing processes using RF scanners and warehouse management systems to ensure accurate order fulfillment
- Conduct shipping and receiving activities with attention to detail, verifying quantities and conditions of goods before dispatch or receipt
- Maintain stock levels through effective stocking, inventory control, and quality checks to prevent discrepancies
- Support warehouse distribution tasks by organizing materials handling and manual handling activities in compliance with safety standards
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times while working in cold environments
- Assist with warehouse supervision duties when required, including training new staff on equipment operation and safety procedures
- Perform load and unload operations efficiently while adhering to safety protocols for heavy lifting and mechanical knowledge requirements
- Support packaging processes to prepare goods for shipment while maintaining quality control standards
Requirements
- Proven experience operating reach trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other heavy equipment in a warehouse setting
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanners, and order picker technology
- Previous warehouse experience with shipping & receiving, order picking & packing, and materials handling in cold environments
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting and load/unload activities
- Familiarity with warehouse distribution processes, inventory management, and quality control procedures
- Mechanical knowledge beneficial for troubleshooting equipment issues quickly
- Experience working with personal protective equipment (PPE) use protocols in refrigerated or freezer conditions
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for stock accuracy and order fulfillment efficiency
- Strong communication skills suitable for team collaboration across diverse roles
