Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operator to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will operate specialized horizontal drilling equipment to install underground utilities efficiently and safely. Your expertise will help drive projects forward while adhering to strict safety standards and ensuring precision in every operation.
Duties
- Operate horizontal directional drilling machinery to install underground utilities with accuracy and efficiency
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of construction machinery
- Follow all federal construction safety regulations and safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment
- Utilize utility locating equipment to identify existing underground utilities before drilling begins
- Assist with the operation of heavy equipment
- Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, project progress, and safety inspections
- Collaborate with team members to ensure construction site safety and project deadlines are met
Qualifications
- You must possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A and have safe driving practices
- Proven experience operating horizontal directional drilling equipment in construction or utility installation projects
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation including excavators, backhoes, loaders, graders, water trucks, and dump trucks
- Familiarity with utility locating techniques and tools to prevent underground utility damage
- Mechanical knowledge for routine maintenance of construction machinery and troubleshooting issues promptly
- Understanding of federal construction safety regulations and adherence to all safety protocols on-site
- Construction site experience with a focus on utility installation or underground infrastructure projects
- Requires availability to work overtime.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
