Title: Human Resources Coordinator

Status: Part Time (20 Hours/Week); Limited Term (<18 Months)

The HR Coordinator serves as the principal day-to-day HR support in all aspects of HR’s responsibility during the absence of the Director of Human Resources during an overseas military assignment. This position ensures consistency in operations through providing support in daily duties and special projects relating to business operations while maintaining compliance aligned with corporate goals. This role encompasses support functions in compliance, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development.
Duties and Responsibilities (Supports BST North America and EMG USA companies; 20 hours per week; also reports to President during HRD absence)
HR Operations & Administrative Support:
· Maintain accurate employee records and ensure data integrity within ADP and internal HR systems.
· Support leave administration, Workers’ Compensation tracking, and benefits coordination with external plan administrators.
· Assist with the preparation of disciplinary documentation, performance improvement plans, and termination materials under leadership guidance.
· Serve as primary point of contact for routine HR inquiries from employees and managers.
· Support building security coordination and act as backup contact as needed.
Recruitment & Onboarding:
· Coordinate recruitment logistics, including job postings, resume screening, interview scheduling, reference checks, and background checks.
· Support hiring managers throughout the recruitment lifecycle.
· Facilitate onboarding activities, including new hire paperwork, system access coordination, and orientation scheduling.
· Ensure I-9 and compliance documentation is completed accurately and timely.
Compliance & Policy Administration:
· Support consistent application of corporate policies and procedures.
· Assist with maintaining and updating HR policies and the employee handbook.
· Coordinate required compliance trainings and track completion.
· Support periodic internal audits of HR files and processes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
· Assist with Safety Committee coordination and OSHA-related documentation.
Employee Relations Support:
· Serve as a first-line HR contact for employee questions and concerns, escalating complex matters to executive leadership as appropriate.
· Provide basic coaching to supervisors on policy interpretation and standard HR processes.
· Support documentation and follow-up related to employee relations matters.
Performance & Compensation Administration:
· Assist in coordinating the performance appraisal process, including communication, tracking, and documentation.
· Maintain job descriptions and support basic compensation benchmarking activities.
· Support benefits administration communications and open enrollment coordination.
Organizational & Event coordination
· Assist in planning and coordinating company events, including quarterly meetings and employee celebrations.
· Support HR-related communications and organizational initiatives during the HRD’s absence.
Other Duties:
· Perform additional HR-related tasks as assigned to support operational continuity during the HR Director’s extended leave.
Experience Requirements:
· 5+ years of administrative experience in a professional environment.
· 3+ year of previous professional experience in a generalist Human Resources role.
· Proven customer service and leadership skills.
· Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate at all levels, both inside and outside the organization.
· Experience in employment law, recruitment, employee relations, employee engagement, and employee development is required.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
· Experience with corporate HR administration and support is preferred.
· Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
· Experience working in an international company preferred.
Education Requirements:
· Associate’s degree in business or related field.
· Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred.
· PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Infrequent lifting/pushing/pulling/moving weights up to 25 lbs.
· Infrequent crouching, bending, and twisting in a manufacturing, industrial, and office environment.
Travel Requirements:
· Infrequent travel to Elmhurst, IL (<5%).
Pay: From $33.00 per hour

Education:
Experience:
