Job Summary
Join our dynamic public health team as a Public Health Nurse, where you will play a vital role in promoting community wellness and disease prevention. This energetic position involves delivering comprehensive nursing services, conducting health assessments, and implementing educational programs and targeted outreach efforts to improve health outcomes throughout Barbour County. You will work collaboratively with local agencies, healthcare providers, and community organizations to address public health challenges and ensure equitable access to care. Your expertise will help foster healthier communities through proactive intervention, education, and compassionate patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform community health assessments to identify needs and develop targeted intervention strategies.
- Administer vaccinations, including immunizations for preventable diseases, following CDC guidelines.
- Conduct health screenings and physical examinations for individuals of all ages, including vulnerable populations such as seniors and children.
- Provide health education on topics such as chronic disease management, nutrition, hygiene, and preventive care.
- Collaborate with local agencies to coordinate outreach programs addressing infectious diseases, maternal health, and substance abuse.
- Offer case management services for individuals with complex health needs, including those with developmental disabilities or in long-term care settings.
- Respond to public health emergencies by supporting triage efforts and critical care procedures in community clinics or mobile units.
Skills
- Proven experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities or in hospice & palliative medicine settings.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems
- Skilled in administering injections, supervising clinic and lab operations
- Familiarity with infectious disease protocols, infection control practices, and contract tracing requirements
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs monitoring and physical examinations across age groups from pediatrics to geriatrics

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
