Classic Car Body Technician
Pay: $19 - $25/ hour

Additional Incentive Opportunity:
Technicians may earn an additional $50 weekly incentive for achieving a minimum of 35 qualified billable labor hours per week based on company standards.

Position Summary
Copperstate Auto Body and Paint is seeking a skilled and experienced Body Technician to support restoration and body shop operations on classic, custom, and vintage vehicles. This role is responsible for automotive bodywork, rust repair, metal repair, panel alignment, body filler work, and paint preparation, while maintaining high-quality restoration standards throughout the production process.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years of hands-on bodywork experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform automotive bodywork, rust repair, panel repair, and metal repair on classic and restoration vehicles
- Perform paint preparation work including sanding, blocking, masking, and priming while maintaining company quality standards
- Perform body filler work, panel alignment, and restoration preparation
- Support vehicle restoration and production workflow throughout all stages of repair and preparation
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and materials
- Follow company safety procedures, operational standards, and shop workflow expectations
- Communicate production concerns, parts needs, or delays to shop leadership
- Support a positive, professional, and team-oriented shop environment
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive bodywork, paint preparation, and rust repair required
- Experience working with classic, custom, vintage, or restoration vehicles preferred
- Strong knowledge of rust repair, body filler, blocking, sanding, masking, panel alignment, and metal repair techniques
- Knowledge of automotive paint preparation and surface finishing standards
- Ability to safely use automotive body tools, sanding equipment, welding equipment, and shop tools
- Strong attention to detail and workmanship quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable transportation and strong attendance required
- Valid driver's license
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and move throughout the shop for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and automotive shop environments
- Frequent exposure to tools, dust, paint materials, chemicals, noise, and moving vehicles
- Ability to safely operate around vehicles, lifts, paint equipment, tools, and shop machinery
