General Description
The Cook is the individual primarily responsible for the preparation and serving of three nutritious and well-balanced meals to each resident of the facility each shift.
Duties
1. Prepare and serve three meals and an afternoon snack at the times designated by the Administrator.
2. Read and be familiar with all documents in the Policies and Procedures Manual including but not limited to “Dietary, Medical and Pharmaceutical Services”.
3. Read and follow the requirements of Regulation 61-84, Chapter 10, Food Service.
4. Be familiar with the likes and dislikes and special diet restrictions of each resident providing substitutions when necessary.
5. Follow a weekly menu in cooperation with the Administrator.
6. Prepare a grocery and supplies list and make purchases in cooperation with the Administrator.
7. Collect, wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils and all other cookware and tableware after each meal.
8. Keep the dining room, kitchen, pantry and appliances clean and free of odors.
9. Launder the napkins, tablecloths and other cloths used in dining and kitchen area.
10. Check incoming supplies and organize and restock pantry.
11. Remove all trash and/or garbage from the dining, kitchen and pantry areas daily.
12. Set up dining room for next meal.
13. Participate in in-service training offered by the facility.
14. Prepare meals and/or refreshments for guests as directed by the Administrator.
15. When 10 residents or less are present in the facility the Cook will be required to assist the residents in activities of daily living and perform cleaning and laundry duties outside of the dining room, kitchen and pantry areas.
16. Answer the telephone and greet guests in the Administrator’s absence.
17. Perform other duties as designated by the Administrator.
Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
