Auction House Product Photographer

Andrew Jones Auctions is seeking a skilled and dependable product photographer to join our photography team. This position involves photographing a wide variety of fine art, antiques, furniture, and decorative objects for our online auction catalogs.
Our inventory changes daily and may include furniture, mirrors, paintings, rugs, silver, ceramics, glass, sculptures, light fixtures, small decorative objects, and other unique items. The ideal candidate will be comfortable adapting their photography approach to objects of different sizes, materials, colors, and reflective surfaces.
We currently have two experienced photographers onsite who can provide training on our workflow, equipment, and established photography style. Candidates can review the lots on our website to become familiar with the presentation and image quality expected.
Responsibilities
- Photograph a wide variety of auction property in a consistent catalog style
- Set up and adjust studio lighting, backdrops, and photography equipment
- Properly position and frame objects ranging from small decorative items to large furniture
- Capture accurate color, scale, texture, and important object details
- Photograph reflective or challenging materials, including silver, glass, mirrors, and polished furniture
- Use Capture One to organize, process, and export images
- Use Adobe Photoshop for cropping, color correction, background cleanup, and other necessary adjustments
- Follow the auction house’s established photography and file-naming standards
- Upload completed photographs to the company server
- Maintain an organized and efficient photography workflow
- Work closely with photographers, cataloguers, and other auction house staff to meet catalog deadlines
Qualifications
- Experience with product, commercial, studio, fine art, or auction photography
- Strong working knowledge of professional cameras and studio lighting
- Proficiency with Capture One and Adobe Photoshop
- Understanding of exposure, white balance, color accuracy, composition, and image consistency
- Ability to photograph both large and small objects effectively
- Comfortable working with fragile, valuable, and unique property
- Able to organize, name, export, and upload digital image files correctly
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow an established visual style
- Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment
- Comfortable working collaboratively in an active auction house setting
Experience photographing antiques, furniture, fine art, reflective objects, or luxury products is preferred but not required. Training on our specific workflow and photography standards will be provided.
Schedule and Compensation
We are open to either a part-time schedule or a full-time hourly position. Exact hours and compensation will be discussed based on experience, availability, and portfolio.
