Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Dog Trainer to oversee training programs and ensure the highest standards of animal care and behavior modification. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in dog training, animal handling, and veterinary-related experience. This leadership role requires excellent communication skills, a passion for pet care, and the ability to manage a team of trainers and assistants. The Lead Dog Trainer will play a vital role in shaping positive behaviors, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a safe environment for animals and staff alike.
Responsibilities
- Regular check in with management and training team
- First point of contact with training concerns.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners about training progress and behavioral strategies
- Develop and implement effective training programs tailored to individual dogs’ needs
- Lead training sessions with dogs and their owners, demonstrating techniques and providing guidance
- Supervise and mentor junior trainers and kennel staff to ensure consistent quality of training services
- Handle dogs safely using proper restraint techniques during training and assessments
- Lead and oversee group classes
- Ensure safety protocols are followed and exceeded daily
- Maintain detailed records of training progress, behavioral issues, and treatment plans
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols related to animal handling and restraint
- Assist with heavy lifting of animals or equipment when necessary to ensure smooth operations
- Assist with in-person marketing events, including set up and break down.
- Ensuring Dog Training Elite Training Standards and Values are met at ALL times.
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dog training, animal handling, or pet care roles
- Veterinary technician, veterinary assistant, or kennel experience highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of animal restraint techniques and behavior management
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with prior supervisory or mentoring experience in an animal care setting

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
