- Some experience in a medical or healthcare setting preferred
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Valid Louisiana Class D Chauffeur’s License required
- BLS / Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required
- Clean driving record and knowledge of Louisiana traffic laws
- Physically capable of performing job duties, including assisting wheelchair-bound patients
- Ability to follow instructions, communicate clearly, and work without constant supervision

What You Will Do:
Safely transport wheelchair-bound patients to assigned destinations while providing respectful, courteous service and maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.
- Transport patients who may be sick or injured to locations assigned by the dispatcher
- Operate a handicap van safely and in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
- Verify patient identification visually and verbally according to facility policy
- Use proper wheelchair lift operation and safe lifting techniques
- Monitor communication equipment and respond promptly to dispatch instructions
- Complete patient transport, insurance, and related documentation accurately and on time
- Recognize when to escalate care and request advanced life support when appropriate
- Administer CPR and use an AED when required
- Decontaminate and maintain the handicap van after patient transport
- Inspect vehicle condition, restock supplies, and maintain inventory each shift
- Represent Baton Rouge General professionally during transports and public events
- Demonstrate Everyday Excellence values in all interactions
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support efficient operations
