Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and results-driven Production Manager to lead daily operations in a busy auto body repair facility. In this role, you will oversee vehicle flow from intake through delivery, manage shop technicians, and ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with estimators, insurers, parts vendors, and customers to maintain production schedules, maximize efficiency, and deliver an exceptional repair experience. Responsibilities
- Oversee daily production operations within the auto body shop, ensuring repairs are completed on time and according to OEM and safety standards
- Manage vehicle workflow, including scheduling, repair timelines, and technician assignments to maximize efficiency and throughput
- Coordinate with estimators, front office staff, and insurance partners to maintain clear communication and accurate repair progress updates
- Monitor parts ordering, deliveries, and inventory to prevent delays and keep jobs moving smoothly
- Lead, train, and motivate technicians, painters, and support staff to meet productivity and quality goals
- Perform quality control checks throughout the repair process and prior to vehicle delivery
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement process improvements to improve cycle time and shop performance
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures, equipment use, and industry best practices
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cycle time, touch time, supplements, and overall shop efficiency
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Production Manager or Shop Manager in an auto body or collision repair environment
- Strong knowledge of collision repair processes, including structural repair, refinish, and reassembly
- Experience coordinating workflow between technicians, estimators, and insurance carriers
- Ability to read and interpret repair plans and manage repair schedules effectively
- Familiarity with shop management systems and estimating platforms (CCC, Mitchell, Audatex, or similar)
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage a fast-paced team environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control
- Understanding of safety standards and OEM repair procedures
- Valid driver’s license required
