Heavy Haul Transport Driver

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Haul Transport Driver to join our team. This full-time position is available immediately for qualified candidates. We are a family-owned and operated company with over 46 years of experience and are committed to employing outstanding team members in the road maintenance industry.
Position Summary
The Heavy Haul Transport Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of oversized and overweight construction equipment to and from job sites throughout Arizona and neighboring states. This position primarily involves hauling road milling machines (Roto-Mills) and other heavy construction equipment while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
Because our work is project-based, drivers must be flexible and willing to assist with equipment operation and other related duties as business needs dictate. Qualified drivers will receive training on various pieces of construction equipment and may occasionally be required to operate equipment at job sites or assist with loading, unloading, and project support activities.
Job Duties, Skills & Responsibilities
- Safely transport oversized and overweight construction equipment in compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, state, and local regulations.
- Haul road milling machines (Roto-Mills), sweepers, loaders, skid steers, rollers, excavators, and other heavy construction equipment.
- Obtain and comply with oversize/overweight permits and route requirements as assigned.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers in accordance with DOT regulations and immediately report any defects or maintenance concerns.
- Safely load, unload, secure, and transport heavy equipment using proper tie-down procedures and securement methods.
- Maintain vehicle registrations, permits, inspection documents, logbooks, and other required paperwork in an organized manner.
- Complete electronic logs (E-Logs), Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs), and timesheets accurately and timely.
- Comply with all traffic laws, DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, and company safety policies.
- Assist with loading, unloading, fueling, cleaning, and basic maintenance of equipment as needed.
- Cross-train on company equipment and, when qualified, operate construction equipment to support field operations.
- Assist with other job-related duties and projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum one year of experience hauling heavy construction equipment.
- Experience transporting oversized and overweight loads preferred.
- Experience hauling road milling machines (Roto-Mills) or similar heavy equipment preferred.
- Valid Class A CDL with acceptable driving record for the past 39 months.
- Current DOT Medical Card.
- Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations regarding heavy haul transportation.
- Experience completing E-Logs, driver inspection reports, and DOT documentation.
- Mechanically inclined with the ability to perform basic repairs and identify equipment issues.
- Ability and willingness to be trained on the operation of various construction equipment.
- Flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends, nights, emergency call-outs, and changing project assignments.
- Willingness to travel for both short-term and long-term out-of-town assignments (hotel accommodations provided).
- Strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and teamwork.

Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to climb on and off trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment multiple times throughout the day.
- Ability to secure heavy equipment using chains, binders, straps, and other securement devices.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, dust, and rain.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
- Steel-toe boots are required; all other required PPE will be provided.
