What You'll Do
- Provide acute care to cardiac and medical stepdown patients, including post-surgical, respiratory failure, and complex medical cases
- Titrate cardiac, insulin, and vasopressor drips (e.g., Esmolol, Cardene, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Levophed)
- Manage central lines, chest tubes, traches, and drains
- Perform wound care and monitor patient status
- Conduct patient assessments and document care in EMR (Meditech Expanse)
- Support bedside procedures such as venous sheath management and temporary pacemaker handling
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including CNAs, RTs, and house staff
What You Need
- Required:
- Louisiana RN license or compact state license
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
- 2+ years of recent PCU or Medical/Surgical nursing experience
- Ability to pass EKG competency exam
- Preferred:
- LVAD certification (particularly for 2 West unit)
- Experience with cardiac drips, wound care, or advanced patient monitoring
