Our ideal person will have exceptional front desk skills and should be prepared to work primarily as a Veterinary Receptionist. This position requires you be able to listen accurately, speak clearly & be able to write legibly. A positive attitude is essential as you interact in a professional, friendly manner with both clients and staff.
The Veterinary Receptionists are critical to the overall operation of the hospital. Receptionist are the first point of contact for our clients. It is the responsibility of the Veterinary Receptionist to schedule appropriately over the phone, greet clients upon entering the hospital, and ensure the clients are comfortable in a clean reception area. This position requires extraordinary customer service skills, the ability to multi-task & attention to details. As such, you should be able to:
- Greet people & answer phones in a professional manner to schedule appointments, refill medications & accept payments while maintaining a positive helpful attitude.
- Have a keen attention to detail ensuring client information is current and correct and that appointment reminders are accurate.
- Communicate with clients in person and by phone to remind them of upcoming appointments or procedures and clearly explain instructions.
- Efficiently check clients out in a timely manner while multitasking
- Handle payments, end-of-day finances, banking deposits, and reconciling the cash drawer.
- Direct client questions to the appropriate staff member if they have medical questions.
This position requires someone who:
- Enjoys working with animals regardless of size, shape or age! and must be comfortable in an animal care setting.
- Possesses excellent communication skills, can speak clearly and write legibly.
- Conducts themselves with a respectful, confident, and friendly professional manner.
- Maintains confidentiality by not sharing or discussing personal information about themselves or others with clients, coworkers or vendor representatives
- Displays empathy and compassion when interacting with clients and patients.
Curiosity, a willingness to learn new things and a sense of humor is appreciated. Familiarity with Avimark Veterinary software a Plus! Our normal schedule is Mon – Friday 7:30 am to 6 pm and Saturday 7:30 am– 1pm. Punctuality and reliability are essential. In fairness to all staff, we rotate an occasional Saturday (or Sunday as needed.) Flexibility with days/hours is a must. This is a full-time position approximately 40 hrs per week
