Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and versatile Assistant Maintenance Manager & Grounds Crew Member to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support the maintenance operations across our property, ensuring that grounds, landscaping, and facilities are kept in excellent condition. You will assist in supervising groundskeeping activities, perform hands-on maintenance tasks, and help manage landscape projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine leadership with practical skills in grounds and facility maintenance, contributing to a safe, beautiful, and well-maintained environment.
Duties
- Assist in overseeing daily groundskeeping and maintenance operations, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to high standards
- Perform landscape maintenance including mowing, trimming, planting, pruning, and planting identification to promote healthy growth and aesthetic appeal
- Manage irrigation systems and troubleshoot issues to ensure proper watering of lawns and gardens
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment such as excavators for landscaping, construction projects, or hardscape installations
- Conduct tree care activities including trimming, pruning, and basic arborist assessments; identify different plant species and pests
- Implement lawn care routines such as fertilizing, aerating, pest management (including pesticide application), and snow plowing during winter months
- Support construction or renovation projects by assisting with site preparation, hardscape installation, or other related tasks
- Should have or be willing to obtain an applicators license before next spring for lawn fertilization and weed control
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience operating various power tools and equipment such as excavators and lawn mowers
- Knowledge of landscape maintenance practices including gardening, plant identification, pest management, and horticulture principles
- Ability to manage irrigation systems effectively and troubleshoot related issues
- Experience with tree care techniques including trimming, pruning, and health assessment
- Familiarity with snow plowing procedures and winter weather safety protocols
- Construction experience or background in hardscape installation is a plus
- Excellent teamwork skills combined with the ability to work independently in outdoor environments
- Strong organizational skills to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining safety standards
