Job Description
First Team Staffing is hiring a reliable and skilled Mailing Inserter Operator to join our client’s production team in Nashville, TN. This is a full-time position responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining mailing equipment while ensuring high-quality production and adherence to safety standards. The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
The Mailing Inserter Operator will work closely with the Production Manager and other departments to ensure jobs are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule while providing professional and courteous support throughout the production process.
Pay: $17.00–$20.00 per hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Flexible Start Times: 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM or 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Overtime: May be required based on production needs
Job Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, adjust, and maintain assigned mailing inserter equipment according to job specifications.
- Read and accurately interpret job tickets and production instructions.
- Return incomplete or inaccurate job tickets for correction.
- Operate mailing equipment safely, efficiently, and independently.
- Maximize production speed while maintaining quality standards.
- Sort, tray, sack, strap, and prepare mail for USPS acceptance.
- Obtain required client and internal approvals and sign-offs.
- Return excess materials and accurately report spoilage.
- Clean and maintain the area surrounding assigned equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify potential issues.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable postal and freight regulations and requirements.
- Work closely with Account Management, Print, Production, and Warehouse teams to maintain workflow continuity.
- Meet established production timelines and complete jobs accurately.
- Communicate suggestions for process improvements.
- Maintain knowledge of company products, services, policies, and procedures.
- Follow all safety procedures and company guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to see, speak, and hear effectively.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and stack materials throughout the shift.
- Ability to move throughout the facility and distribute paperwork as needed.
- Ability to use a computer and telephone regularly.
- Ability to operate electric and manual pallet jacks using hands and feet.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position in a fast-paced production environment.

Education and/or Experience
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
- 6 months to 1 year of mailing or production equipment experience preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.
Language Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, job tickets, and memos.
- Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills preferred.

Work Environment
- Fast-paced production environment with a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and meeting deadlines.
- Must be able to work independently while following direction from the Production Manager.
- Overtime may be required based on production needs.
- Must maintain a professional, positive, and team-oriented approach.
