This position is CONTINGENT on contract award. The Aircraft Mechanic II – Avionics performs KC-135 aircraft maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, modification, and documentation in support of organizational/intermediate/depot-level maintenance requirements at Fairchild AFB, WA with potential TDY support to other KC-135 locations as directed. The position specializes in avionics, electrical, wiring, aircraft systems, and related aircraft maintenance tasks.

Perform KC-135 avionics, electrical, and aircraft systems maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, repairs, and modifications.

Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, replace, and document aircraft wiring, electrical components, avionics systems, and related aircraft systems.

Interpret and apply technical orders, wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings, maintenance manuals, work instructions, and other approved technical data.

Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, pre-flight, thru-flight, post-flight, and inspection-related tasks as assigned.

Use aircraft maintenance tools, test equipment, torque wrenches, measuring devices, and other approved equipment as required.

Document maintenance actions in approved aircraft forms, records, logs, and Government maintenance systems.

Support aircraft launch, recovery, servicing, and general flightline maintenance tasks as required.

Comply with Tool Control, FOD prevention, safety, quality, security, and local operating requirements.

Provide technical guidance or on-the-job training to less experienced mechanics as directed.

Support TDY maintenance operations at other KC-135 locations as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
-
High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
Experience
-
Minimum of three (3) years of aircraft maintenance experience on an Air Force wide-body platform, preferably KC-135, or equivalent experience is required.

Avionics, electrical, wiring, aircraft systems troubleshooting, wiring harness repair/replacement, or aircraft electrical maintenance experience is required.

Experience using aircraft technical orders, wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and maintenance documentation is required.

A&P certification is preferred but not required.
Licenses/ Certification/ Registration
Must have a valid and clean state driver’s license when required by job assignment.-
Must be a U.S. citizen.

Must possess and maintain a current Secret security clearance.
-
Must be able to obtain and maintain base access, Common Access Card, and required Government system access.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport and any required visas or travel documentation for CONUS/OCONUS TDY travel, as required by the contract or task order.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a flightline driver’s license if required.

Must obtain all certifications and training required to perform assigned duties.

Must have working knowledge of aircraft avionics/electrical maintenance practices.

Must be able to read and interpret technical data, schematics, wiring diagrams, and maintenance instructions.

Must be able to prioritize workload and support production schedules.

Must be able to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.

Must be able to work day shift, night shift, weekends, holidays, overtime, or adjusted schedules as required.

Must be willing and able to travel TDY as required.
