Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $29 – $35 (based on experience and qualifications)
- Overtime: Paid at 1.5× regular rate

About the Role
Join our Utility Communication division and play a key role in building and maintaining fiber optic networks across NY and PA. This full-time position blends hands-on fusion splicing, troubleshooting, and testing—sometimes in challenging outdoor or elevated environments. Travel and overnight stays are routine, and strict adherence to safety protocols is essential.
What You’ll Do
- Perform fusion splicing on single- and multi-mode fiber optic cables
- Use OTDRs, and other tools to test fiber integrity and performance
- Troubleshoot and resolve faults in spliced connections or damaged cables
- Maintain detailed documentation: splice diagrams, test results, as-built logs
- Inspect and maintain equipment, ensuring splicers and tools are job-ready
- Collaborate with linemen, project managers, and other field technicians
- Respond promptly to emergency repairs, often under tight deadlines
- Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies at all times
What We’re Looking For :
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years as a fiber splicer or in a related telecom role
- Proficient with fusion splicing (single‑mode and multi‑mode)
- Experienced using OTDRs and fiber power meters
- OSHA 10 certified
- Valid driver’s license
- Able to lift up to 75 lbs and work at heights in all weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
Preferred (Not Required)
- Certifications: Fiber Optic Technician (FOT), OSHA 30
- Ribbon splicing expertise
- Experience in fiber line construction, working alongside linemen
- Leadership experience in managing splicing teams or projects
Schedule & Travel
- Schedule: 40-hour workweek (Monday–Friday), with occasional overtime and emergency call-outs
- Travel: Frequent site visits across NY and PA; travel nights away from home are common
