Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and client-focused professional to join our accounting team as an Associate. In this role, you will provide comprehensive support in business taxation, financial recordkeeping and bookkeeping, notice defense, and other tax and accounting services for a variety of clients across many different industries.
You will play a key role in helping clients stay financially organized and compliant, while building strong and lasting relationships based on trust and accuracy in a multi-disciplinary firm.
This position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in accounting software, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, service-driven environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file business tax returns (e.g., corporate, partnership, sales/use tax) in compliance with applicable laws and deadlines
- Respond to tax notices and assist clients in resolving tax-related issues or discrepancies
- Coordinate with external tax authorities or agencies as needed
- Support clients during audits by preparing and organizing required documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for clients, including income, expenses, and supporting documentation
- Record day-to-day financial transactions such as purchases, receipts, sales, and payments
- Maintain and update the general ledger and chart of accounts
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts regularly
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and support annual/periodic tax filings
- Ensure ongoing compliance with accounting standards and legal regulations
- Organize and maintain both digital and physical financial records
- Communicate regularly with clients and internal teams to gather financial information, clarify discrepancies, and provide updates
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 3-5 years of experience in bookkeeping, business taxation, or accounting firm experience
- Proficiency with accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll software (e.g., Lacerte Tax, QuickBooks, ADP, or similar platforms)
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations, as well as bookkeeping practices and accounting principles
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple client accounts, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Speaking another language is a plus, but not required
- Staten Island residency is a plus, but not required
- Willingness to learn and work on a team
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
