Behavior Technicians and Registered Behavior Technicians at WePlay ABA and Language Academy, play a crucial role in supporting individuals with behavioral challenges, particularly those diagnosed with autism. The primary responsibility of this position is to implement behavior intervention plans and individualized treatment targets as designed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to help clients develop essential life skills and reduce challenging behaviors.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Implement behavior intervention plans under the supervision of a BCBA
- Conduct direct 1:1 therapy sessions with clients
- Collect and record data on client progress during therapy sessions
- Write treatment session notes as required by insurance
- Collaborate with the treatment team to provide feedback on client progress
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation
- Utilize behavioral therapy techniques to teach new skills and modify behaviors
- Work closely with individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other disabilities to improve their quality of life
- Assist in health and hygiene routines such as toileting, diapering, toothbrushing, handwashing, dressing, etc.
- Assisting in creating and maintaining a neat and clean work environment and space
- Conduct group therapy with a 2:1 ratio with clients during the therapy day on an as needed basis
- Instruct group led activities with peers during social opportunities
- Write insurance compliant session notes.
Essential requirements
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work effectively with individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other disabilities
- Proficiency in data collection related to client progress
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to learn new and apply new therapeutic techniques as directed by BCBAs
- Ability to accept feedback in a professional manner
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to play and keep up with active children, including being able to move quickly throughout the work environment. This includes but is not limited to:
- Bending, squatting, jumping, kneeling, sitting on the floor, balancing, twisting and turning your body, running with or after children, walking frequently throughout the day, and reaching above the shoulder.
