Assistant General Manager | Fine DiningElevated Hospitality | Operational Leadership | Career Growth
We are seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager to join the leadership team of an established fine dining restaurant.
This is an opportunity for a polished, well-rounded restaurant leader who understands how to run a sophisticated operation; not simply manage the dining room. The ideal candidate brings strong FOH leadership, financial and operational acumen, team development experience, and an uncompromising commitment to exceptional hospitality.
As Assistant General Manager, you will work closely with the General Manager and culinary leadership to drive the overall success of the restaurant while maintaining the elevated standards expected in a fine dining environment.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of daily restaurant operations.
- Serve as a key leader and Manager-on-Duty, taking ownership of the operation when the General Manager is not present.
- Lead, coach, and develop FOH managers and hourly team members while creating a culture of accountability, professionalism, and hospitality.
- Maintain a highly visible presence throughout service, ensuring exceptional execution and anticipating the needs of both guests and employees.
- Uphold elevated fine dining service standards across every aspect of the guest experience.
- Build relationships with guests, recognize regulars and VIPs, and create personalized experiences that drive loyalty and repeat business.
- Partner closely with the Executive Chef and culinary leadership to maintain seamless communication and execution between FOH and BOH.
- Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, performance management, and employee development.
- Assist with labor management, budgeting, inventory, cost controls, and other areas of restaurant financial performance.
- Monitor reservations, guest flow, table turns, staffing levels, and overall service execution.
- Lead pre-shift meetings and reinforce expectations surrounding service, menu knowledge, wine and beverage offerings, and special events.
- Support wine and beverage operations while continuing to develop the team's product knowledge and sales abilities.
- Identify opportunities to increase sales, enhance the guest experience, and improve overall restaurant performance.
- Handle guest concerns and service recovery with professionalism, urgency, and sound judgment.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, alcohol service, cleanliness, security, and company operating standards.
- Assist the General Manager in identifying and developing future restaurant leaders.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of restaurant management experience within fine dining or a similarly elevated hospitality environment.
- Current or previous experience as an Assistant General Manager, Restaurant Manager, General Manager, or comparable senior restaurant leader strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to oversee the entire FOH operation rather than a single department or area of responsibility.
- Strong understanding of restaurant financials, including labor, scheduling, cost controls, sales, and profitability.
- Experience recruiting, training, coaching, and developing high-performing restaurant teams.
- Strong knowledge of elevated service standards, wine, spirits, and food and beverage pairings.
- Polished and professional presence with the ability to comfortably interact with discerning guests and VIP clientele.
- Excellent communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to remain composed and lead confidently during high-volume, demanding services.
- Strong understanding of the importance of collaboration between FOH and culinary leadership.
- Experience with restaurant POS and reservation management systems.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
