Site-Based Project Engineer
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Site-Based Project Engineer to provide field and project support for the successful delivery, installation, and turnover of modular building systems at construction sites.
This role serves as a key liaison between Manufacturing, Project Management, subcontractors, and customers to ensure products are delivered safely, installed correctly, and completed in accordance with project schedules and quality standards.
Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the Site-Based Project Engineer supports day-to-day project activities including logistics coordination, document management, quality inspections, progress tracking, and issue resolution.
This position is ideal for an early-career construction professional looking to gain hands-on experience in project execution, field operations, and modular construction.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProject Coordination
- Support the Project Manager with daily project activities and field coordination efforts.
- Assist with maintaining project schedules and tracking installation progress.
- Attend project meetings and document meeting notes, action items, and follow-up activities.
- Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and customer representatives to support project execution.
- Communicate project updates, site observations, and concerns to project leadership.
- Identify and assist in resolving routine field issues while escalating complex issues when necessary.
Delivery & Logistics Support
- Coordinate and track deliveries of modules, equipment, and materials to project sites.
- Verify deliveries against shipping documentation and report shortages, discrepancies, or damages.
- Assist with delivery sequencing and coordination of:
- Site access
- Crane activities
- Laydown areas
- Material staging
- Monitor fabrication and shipping schedules and communicate updates to project teams.
- Maintain records related to deliveries, inspections, and material receipts.
Documentation & Technical Support
- Maintain project documentation including:
- Construction drawings
- Specifications
- RFIs
- Submittals
- Field reports
- Meeting minutes
- Track and organize project records and correspondence.
- Review project drawings and specifications to understand scope and project requirements.
- Support project closeout documentation and turnover packages.
- Assist with maintaining accurate as-built documentation.
Quality Assurance
- Participate in site inspections to verify work meets project specifications and quality standards.
- Assist with inspections of modules and materials upon delivery.
- Document quality concerns and track corrective actions through completion.
- Support punch list development and closeout activities.
- Coordinate third-party inspections and testing activities as required.
Safety Support
- Promote a safe working environment and support company safety initiatives.
- Participate in site safety meetings, inspections, and audits.
- Observe work activities and report unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Follow all company, customer, and site-specific safety policies and procedures.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0-3 years of experience in construction, manufacturing, engineering, project coordination, or related industries.
- Internship, co-op, or field construction experience is highly desirable.
- Basic understanding of construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
- Willingness to travel and work at project sites for extended periods as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or field experience in construction, manufacturing, or project management environments.
- Experience or exposure to modular, prefabricated, or off-site construction methods.
- Familiarity with:
- Procore
- Bluebeam
- Autodesk Construction Cloud
- Similar construction management software
- OSHA 10 Certification or willingness to obtain certification.
