Job Overview
We are seeking a certified teacher or experienced educator for a unique, part-time, hybrid homeschool role supporting our bright, highly creative 12-year-old. He is enrolled in a local public school K-12 parent-partnership program (Edmonds Heights).
Our Philosophy
We prioritize life skills, emotional regulation, and functional independence over traditional academic milestones. Our child is deeply hands-on and loves to craft, design, and build complex projects. We need an educator who can guide his learning by using his creative projects as the primary vehicle for academics. Our child has a PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) autism profile. We practice a low-demand, relationship-first approach, utilizing declarative language, co-regulation, and collaborative problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Guidance: Collaborate with the school’s Learning Consultant to facilitate his middle school coursework, weaving academics directly into his building and crafting projects.
- Campus Support: Accompany him to the Edmonds Heights campus weekly for classes to provide gentle 1-on-1 support and co-regulation during his class blocks.
Qualifications:
- Certified teacher or experienced alternative educator preferred
- Experience or comfort with neurodiversity, low-demand environments, and child-led learning
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Schedule & Compensation:
- Pay: $40.00 – $45.00 / hour
- Hours: Part-time, flexible schedule (approx. 15–20 hours per week)
