Operator - Picking
1st Shift: 6:15am - 2:50pm, Monday-Friday
Department: Pick-Pack Area
Reports To: Area Leader
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
SUMMARY:
Pick and Pack Operators are responsible for removing waste from manufactured or purchase parts and or packaging orders in preparation for shipment according to job router instructions standard packaging procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow job instructions for required packaging which may include:

Add labels to a package
-
Specific box size
-
Specific quantity of boxes per pallet
-
Specific pallet requirements (example: heat-treated and/or pallet dimensions)

Notify the Team Leader on any quantity discrepancy.

Notify the Team Leader on any damaged or broken parts.

Communicate with the Team Leader on movement of pallets into the Pick Pack area.

Organize pallets and boxes in the area to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

Organize and be responsible for cleanliness and organizing of tools used in the area.

Heat sealer, Tape Machine, Weight Scale, Paper Cutter

Participates in 5s of the work Area
-
Participate in daily SQDIP huddle to understand the goals and results.

Ensure quality processes are followed
-
Keep work center area clean and organized.
-
Replenish packaging items as needed (boxes, tape, label printer rolls, etc.)
-
Complete other duties/projects as assigned by the Area Leader or Team Leader.

Can learn and understand Production computer system.

Comply with Safety Rules of Sur-Seal.

Other duties as assigned by the Area Leader or Production Manager
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate.

Strong ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast pace production environment.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment to meet daily goals.
- Committed to following processes and quality procedures to achieve repeatable results.

Manufacturing/warehousing experience preferred.
-
Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time during the work day.

Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES- none
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Employee must be able to stand for an entire shift, lift 45 pounds on a repetitive basis, and perform the physical activities directly related to the position. Proper lifting techniques required. The use of personal protective equipment is required under certain conditions.
