Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of utility electrical systems within substations, including high-voltage wiring and relay testing.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters and other testing equipment to identify faults or system irregularities.
- Install, connect, and repair high-voltage and low-voltage cabling, wiring, and conduit systems following NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Operate bucket trucks and bucket lifts safely for overhead line system work, including climbing structures and performing tree trimming around utility lines.
- Execute rigging procedures for equipment installation or removal while adhering to strict safety protocols and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) use.
- Collaborate with construction teams on site to ensure proper installation of electrical infrastructure according to blueprints and technical drawings.
- Utilize utility locating techniques to identify underground cables before excavation or construction activities.
- Maintain detailed records of all work performed, including relay testing results, electrical blueprint reading notes, and safety inspections.
Skills
- Extensive experience with industrial and commercial electrician practices, including high-voltage electrical wiring and electrical safety procedures.
- Proficiency in reading electrical blueprints, schematics, and construction site plans to guide installation and troubleshooting efforts.
- Strong knowledge of utility electrical systems, overhead line systems, relay testing procedures, and NEC standards.
- Skilled in welding, cabling techniques, field service operations, and working with IT infrastructure related to utility networks.
- Ability to operate bucket trucks safely for climbing tasks or overhead line repairs while following all PPE guidelines.
- Experience working in the energy & utilities sector with a focus on electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting complex systems.
- Capable of performing utility locating tasks accurately in various environments; familiar with tree trimming around power lines when necessary.
- Demonstrated understanding of electrical safety procedures when working on high-voltage systems or construction sites.
- Familiarity with NEC regulations, ohmmeters for circuit testing, and the use of specialized tools like field testers or diagnostic equipment.

Pay: $40.00 - $65.00 per hour
