General Position Summary:
Responsible for the CNC programming milled parts, fasteners and miscellaneous hardware. Our Company is a diverse machine shop that manufactures complex detail parts, sub-assemblies, assemblies and components for use within multiple industries.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities Are But Not Limited To:
- Experience programming and supporting 5-axis CNC machining centers preferred.
- Develop CNC programs using MasterCAM for mills based on engineering drawings and models
- Integrate work with Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing, and Scheduling Departments to ensure a smooth flow of quality products through the factory
- Ability to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex multi-axis machining strategies is highly desirable
- Analyze drawings, blueprints, and design data in order to calculate correct part dimension for machines, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates
- Setup and operate CNC machines capability
- Monitor output and proper operation of mechanical equipment. Make mechanical and/or program adjustments to ensure - parts are meeting quantity and quality requirements
- Develops, prepares, optimizes, and maintains related Set-up and operation documents
- Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers, and fixtures and gauges to accurately measure dimensions on parts that are being machined within the specified part tolerance
- Program, setup, and prove out new CNC programs through first article approval and production release, ensuring parts are consistently manufactured to print specifications, quality requirements, and production standards.
- Develop and provide accurate machining cycle time estimates for new parts to support quoting, capacity planning, and production scheduling activities.
- Communicate recommendations to modify processes to improve productivity and quality
- Capable of providing part cycle times for quoting purposes
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in all production areas
- Provide ongoing training for production employees
- Works effectively with little supervision. Work to deadlines
- Understands company Operational Excellence directive and is responsible for quality and continuous improvement within the job scope
- Performs work in accordance with International Standards for this position
- Carry out other duties reasonable within capability as required by the CNC supervisor.
Specific Job Skills:
- Aerospace experience a plus.
- Experience with measuring tools, such as calipers and micrometers.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to produce quality product without sacrificing defined throughput (quantities per hour) expectations.
Education and/or Experience:
3-5 years’ experience writing CNC programs in a machining environment. 2 years technical or trade school with an emphasis on CAM programming preferred. Demonstrates proficiency with CAD (solid modeling) and CAM software preferred. Ability to program using Mastercam Software. Strong math skills required. Demonstrates a professional and positive attitude as well as a passion for continuous improvement. Demonstrates strong time management skills with the ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects.
