Departmental Objective
Process financial transactions in accordance with state and university policies and procedures.
Purpose of the Position
Responsible for processing accounting transactions into the Commonwealth Accounting and Reporting Systems (Cardinal) and the University’s accounting system (SCT Banner) and reconciling revenue in both systems. Responsible for electronic transfer of revenue between all local fund and the state bank accounts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position
- Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Knowledge in computerized accounting systems interpreting accounting reports and performing data entry
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in use of office equipment (calculator, personal computer, copy machine, etc.)
- Ability to accurately perform detailed financial calculations and analysis
- Ability to maintain complex financial ledgers in conformity with established procedures and regulations
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate its outcome to others verbally and in narrative form
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
Experience:
- Experience researching, analyzing, and recording general ledger transactions in an automated accounting system
- Experience reconciling financial reports with financial records, researching variances, and making correcting entries
- Experience with word-processing and spreadsheet applications
- Accounting reconciliation experience
Additional Consideration(s)
Education:
- Some accounting courses at a business school or college level
Experience:
- Experience with SCT Banner and the Commonwealth Accounting and Reporting Systems (Cardinal)
- Experience navigating between multiple automated reporting systems
- Experience with governmental accounting
Salary Information
Salary $41,121 to $50,259, Commensurate with Education and Experience
