American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week travel contract in Rapid City, SD, requiring Epic proficiency, TNCC certification, and a minimum of one prior travel assignment.

Mixed ICU setting with 39 beds encompassing MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU
-
Complex patient population including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases — diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma
-
Cardiac experience is preferred, particularly CABG/TAVR 24–48 hrs post-op
-
Patient ratios are acuity-dependent: 1:1, 1:2, or rarely 1:3
-
12-hour day shifts, 48 hours per week

Every other weekend rotation
-
No on-call requirements
-
Floating to adult floors (including Med/Surg/Tele at 1:4 ratio) is uncommon but possible if overstaffed
-
EMR: Epic (required); also uses Alaris pumps (transitioning to Baxter) and Omnicell
-
Active RN license — SD license or compact license required

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (required prior to start)

Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, excluding travel experience, strongly preferred
-
Candidates with at least 1.5 years of ICU experience (excluding travel) plus significant RN experience outside of ICU may be considered
-
Minimum one prior travel assignment required — first-time travelers will not be considered

Epic EMR experience required
-
Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry
-
Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT strongly preferred
-
Must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility

Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration

DOB and SSN required for consideration

Unit support includes 1–2 CNAs per unit plus a mobility float aide, 2 charge RNs overseeing all ICUs, a resource nurse (staffing-dependent), 24/7 respiratory therapy, and robust physician coverage (3 intensivists on days, 2 on nights plus an APP on nights)

Orientation consists of a hospital orientation, one 12-hour shift, and one 8-hour shift on the ICU

Navy scrubs required

No RTO during holidays

RTO of up to 7 days may be approved, but the contract must be extended to accommodate a full 13-week assignment

No RTO during the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks of August each year)

Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning to this facility as a traveler
