About Us:
BAAKO Bus Company provides safe, reliable transportation for schools, athletics, and non-profit organizations across Chicago. We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to support our fleet of full-size school buses.
Position Overview:
This is not a full-time role. We need a skilled diesel mechanic to handle scheduled routine maintenance and to be available on-call for emergency breakdowns.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel buses, including:
- Oil and filter changes (engine, fuel, air, etc.)
- Fluid checks and refills (coolant, power steering, windshield washer, etc.)
- General safety and compliance checks
- Diagnose and repair diesel engine and system issues.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns as needed.
- Maintain accurate service logs and parts records.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic (school bus or heavy-duty vehicles preferred).
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines and related systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform both routine and urgent repairs.
- Own tools preferred.
- Dependable with reliable transportation to our bus lots in Chicago.
Schedule & Compensation:
- On-call / part-time (not a full-time role).
- Flexible scheduling for preventive maintenance.
- Pay is competitive and based on experience.
