As a Veterinary Technician Assistant, you will:
- Welcome patients and complete check-in, registration, and intake processes.
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care and treatment.
- Monitor, care for, medicate, and support animals throughout their clinic experience.
- Administer vaccines and medications as directed.
- Collect laboratory specimens, including blood and fecal samples, and assist with testing procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical and patient records.
- Keep clinic and lobby areas clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Answer customer questions and provide information about Houston SPCA programs and services.
- Process payments and assist with donation requests.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs.
- Safeguard confidential information related to clients, donors, animals, and organizational operations.
- Support additional clinic and organizational needs as assigned.
- Two years of work experience preferred.
- Veterinary Assistant Certificate preferred.
- Ability to obtain Certified Veterinary Assistant Level 1 (CVA 1) within six months of hire, sponsored by Houston SPCA.
- Knowledge of animal breeds, behavior, handling techniques, diseases, medical conditions, and vaccination protocols preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Valid Texas Driver's License and good driving record preferred.
- Ability to work flexible and occasionally unscheduled hours.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
