Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental charts to develop personalized care plans.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using advanced imaging equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside support, including handling dental instruments and ensuring proper aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients on proper dental care practices, oral hygiene techniques, and post-treatment instructions to foster lifelong healthy habits.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for accurate documentation of patient visits and treatment plans.
- Maintain infection prevention standards by sterilizing equipment, managing infection control protocols, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current registration credentials.
- Proven experience in general dentistry setting with proficiency in dental terminology and medical terminology.
- Strong knowledge of dental equipment operation, X-ray techniques, and medical imaging procedures.
- Familiarity with Dentrix for efficient documentation review and management.
- Expertise in infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control best practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics, demonstrating excellent client communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical records management, medical coding, and HIPAA compliance standards to ensure privacy and security of patient information.
