Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs. Duties
- Assist residents with personal care tasks including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
- Support individuals with medication administration and monitor vital signs as needed in accordance with care plans
- Help residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as meal preparation, light cleaning, and household chores to maintain a safe and clean environment
- Provide patient observation and monitor behavioral or health changes, documenting findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assist with mobility using proper patient transfer methods
- Support residents during community outings or appointments by providing personal transportation assistance
- Assist with specialized care needs including Alzheimer’s care, dementia support, memory care, autism support, and neurodevelopmental disorders
- Follow prescribed care plans diligently while maintaining communication with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care
- Respond promptly to emergencies by executing first aid procedures or CPR when necessary, ensuring safety at all times
- Maintain cleanliness of the living environment through routine cleaning tasks and ensure compliance with health standards
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and experience working with individuals with disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders is advantageous
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and patient transfers using proper techniques such as Hoyer lifts
- Strong understanding of medication administration protocols and vital signs monitoring in accordance with healthcare regulations
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications related to dementia care or hospice are a plus
- Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, or overnight shifts as needed
- Demonstrated patience, compassion, and a genuine desire to improve the lives of others
