Job Title: Staff Accountant

Job Description:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting day-to-day accounting operations through general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, financial reporting and month-end close processes.
Education and Experience:
· Associate’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field plus 2-4 years’ related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Responsible for timely solicitation of approvals and accurate coding of all accounts payable invoices by allocating them to the correct cost codes and PO information.
· Maintains updated and accurate vendor accounts by reconciling invoice and payment discrepancies and communicating as needed with the correct contacts.
· Prepares weekly check run; prepares all weekly checks for executive review and signature. Processes/mails all payments once executed, ensuring that all accounts are paid on time and kept current, and collects lien waivers.
· Handles monthly credit card reconciliation by ensuring receipts are saved and coded correctly in SharePoint, requesting receipts and clarifications when necessary, and submitting a reviewed copy of credit card reconciliation to the Accounting Manager / Controller for final review and posting.
· Reviews and approves subcontractor invoices that require lien releases, ensuring to request them as needed and identifying that the retainage amounts are correct between vendor and system.
· Administers and tracks project specific documents such as IDA documents, lien releases, capital improvement documentation and sales tax exemption forms.
· Provide tracking from the accounting software of all open accounts payable with relevant parties on a weekly basis.
· Generates AIA (progress billing) documents for invoicing.
· Maintains invoicing, accounts receivable for all construction projects.

· Receive mail, scan and process into the accounting system, and notify those with mail addressed to them.
· Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
· Computer skills in Word, Excel, QuickBooks and Email.
· Strong knowledge and experience applying generally accepted accounting principles, procedures, and internal controls.
· Attention to detail. Strong analytical skills. Ability to take initiative and solve problems.
· Strong tactical skills and ability to see the big picture.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work well with various types of team members.
· Exercises discretion and independent judgement while regularly and directly assisting members and executives of the company.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
· General office setting. Prolonged periods of sitting/standing at desk working on computer.
Pay: $22.00 - $31.00 per hour
