ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs various duties in the Sign Shop for the purpose of preparing, repairing and installing street signs; places backing and letters on signs; installs signs.
Operates motorized maintenance equipment such as a front-end loader, backhoe, loaders, dump truck, tractor, vactor truck, broom tractor, rubber tire tractor, roller, etc.; utilizes tools and equipment such as chain saws, pipe saws, drillers, skill saws, etc.
Operates motorized equipment for the purpose of maintaining streets and preparing property for further construction/repair which includes such duties as hauling dirt, asphalt, coquina, etc.; leveling dirt; dressing road shoulders; sweeping streets; opening and cleaning storm drains; packing asphalt; etc.
Uses rough carpentry and masonry concrete finishing skills to complete new construction and maintenance.
Performs preventive maintenance on equipment such as checking/changing oil, fluids, fuel, and filters; performs visual safety and preventative maintenance checks.
Prepares various records such as daily activity reports, mosquito reports, leave requests, etc.
Follows safety guidelines and wears related safety equipment.
On call, available 24 hours on a rotating basis.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Paints street markers and public walks; performs stencil lettering.
Assists in laying tile, building catch basins, preparing roads to be paved, putting asphalt down, servicing and washing vehicles, etc.
Performs other related duties as required.

Program Overview:
Our CDL Apprenticeship Program is designed to provide comprehensive training and hands-on experience to individuals pursuing a Commercial Driver's License. Through a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-road training, apprentices will gain the skills and knowledge needed to become professional truck drivers.
Key Responsibilities:

Participate in classroom training at Horry Georgetown Technical College covering CDL regulations, safety protocols, and operational procedures.

Receive assisted driving on the road with experienced drivers to gain practical driving experience.

Learn and practice vehicle inspection and maintenance procedures.

Adhere to company safety policies and DOT regulations.

Complete all assigned tasks and training modules within the program timeline.
Requirements:

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Ability to pass a DOT physical exam and drug test.
