Duties
- Support classroom activities by assisting teachers with child supervision, behavior management, and developmental instruction
- Provide safe transportation for children as a bus driver, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and traffic laws
- Engage with children through age-appropriate activities that promote childhood development and early learning skills
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment conducive to learning and play
- Communicate effectively with parents about their child's progress, needs, and daily experiences
- Follow mandated reporting laws to report any concerns regarding child safety or well-being
- Administer basic first aid or pediatric first aid when necessary to address minor injuries or health issues
- Support children with special needs by implementing individualized care plans and adapting activities accordingly
- Assist with daily routines such as meal times, nap schedules, diapering (for infants/toddlers), and transition activities
- Ensure compliance with all childcare regulations and health & safety standards while fostering a nurturing atmosphere
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in daycare centers, preschools, or similar settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is advantageous
- Classroom management skills to maintain an organized and positive learning environment
- Familiarity with child supervision techniques and behavior management strategies
- Certification in first aid and CPR (including pediatric first aid) is required; additional certifications in special education or childcare are a plus
- Previous roles such as nannying or babysitting that involved caring for young children are valuable foundations for this position
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff, and children from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated understanding of mandated reporting laws related to child safety
