We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly skilled Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) to join our growing rehabilitation team. The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating patients, establishing individualized plans of care, delivering evidence-based interventions, and monitoring patient progress to restore function, reduce pain, and improve quality of life. This position requires strong clinical reasoning, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to providing patient-centered care in a collaborative healthcare environment.
The DPT will work closely with physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, physical therapist assistants, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, high-quality care while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and documentation requirements. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations, including examination, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, and development of individualized plans of care.
- Establish measurable short- and long-term treatment goals based on patient presentation, functional limitations, and physician referrals when applicable.
- Provide evidence-based physical therapy interventions, including therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, neuromuscular re-education, gait training, balance training, therapeutic activities, patient education, and pain management techniques.
- Continuously assess patient progress and modify treatment plans based on clinical findings, functional outcomes, and patient response to treatment.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Supervise and direct Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) and rehabilitation aides in accordance with California state practice laws and organizational policies.
- Complete accurate, timely, and compliant documentation, including evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress reports, re-evaluations, discharge summaries, and other required clinical documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR/EHR).
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, home exercise programs, injury prevention, body mechanics, wellness strategies, and long-term self-management.
- Develop and implement discharge plans that promote continued recovery, functional independence, and successful transition to home or community-based care.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, payer, HIPAA, and professional practice regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and interdisciplinary case conferences to promote clinical excellence and optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized treatment environment while ensuring proper use and maintenance of rehabilitation equipment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from a CAPTE-accredited physical therapy program.
- Current California Physical Therapist license in good standing (or eligibility for licensure).
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Experience in an outpatient orthopedic clinic preferred; new graduates with strong clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of musculoskeletal, orthopedic, neurological, and post-operative rehabilitation.
- Experience treating patients with orthopedic, sports medicine, neurological, geriatric, and balance disorders preferred.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) and clinical documentation.
- Thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, pathology, and evidence-based rehabilitation practices.
- Strong manual therapy skills and ability to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
