Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough ophthalmic patient examinations, including visual acuity testing, tonometry, and assessment of ocular health using ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment
- Perform contact lens fitting and provide guidance on lens care and maintenance
- Diagnose eye conditions and disease states related to ophthalmology, utilizing medical terminology and physiology knowledge
- Manage disease progression through appropriate medical treatment plans and patient education
- Operate medical equipment safely and accurately, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Document detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems, including vital signs and ophthalmic diagnostic results
- Communicate effectively with patients, explaining diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care strategies while fostering positive client relationships
Requirements
- Valid licensure as an Optometrist with current certification to practice in the relevant jurisdiction
- Proven experience in ophthalmology or optometry, including ophthalmic diagnosis and disease management
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, medical coding, and HIPAA compliance standards
- Hands-on experience with tonometry, contact lens fitting, and ophthalmic examinations
- Excellent client communication skills with a focus on customer service and patient education
- Ability to operate medical equipment safely while maintaining aseptic technique during procedures
- Knowledge of healthcare diagnosis, treatment protocols, and disease state management in eye care
