About the Program
Above and Beyond Mental Health Services provides ASAM Level 2.1 and 2.5 substance use and co-occurring disorder treatment services for adults. We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Mental Health Professional to join our clinical team in the Salem office and help deliver high-quality, individualized care within a structured, multidisciplinary treatment environment.
Position Summary
The LMHP will provide direct outpatient therapy services within our ASAM 2.1/2.5 programming, complete required clinical documentation, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure individuals receive coordinated, evidence-based treatment consistent with ASAM criteria and DBHDS licensing standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct individual, group, and/or family therapy consistent with each client's treatment plan.
- Complete clinical assessments, intakes, Individualized Service Plans (ISPs), and continued stay reviews in accordance with ASAM criteria and DBHDS regulations.
- Assist in the development and delivery of crisis intervention services on behalf of the CEO, consistent with agency policy and performance standards.
- Coordinate care with clients' families, caregivers, physicians, psychiatric providers, and other treatment team members.
- Maintain documentation that meets state, federal, regional, and agency requirements, including timely completion of records within required timeframes.
- Uphold all applicable legal, ethical, and professional standards, including client confidentiality, informed consent, and boundaries around dual relationships.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical case reviews, and staff trainings.
- Support the clinical development of team members by modeling and educating on quality, accurate service delivery.
- Perform other clinically appropriate duties as assigned by the CEO.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of ASAM criteria and levels of care, particularly ASAM 2.1 and 2.5.
- Understanding of substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and evidence-based treatment approaches.
- Strong skills in crisis intervention, treatment planning, and clinical documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and provide clear clinical direction.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and personalities in a respectful, culturally responsive manner.
- Knowledge of state and local human services agencies, community resources, and referral networks.
- Sound understanding of wellness and recovery models.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent work skills.
- Comfort using electronic health records and standard office/computer software.
- Minimum of one year of documented clinical experience with adult populations.
Required Credentials
Candidates must hold one of the following active Virginia licenses/certifications:
- Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Licensed Physician (with relevant psychiatric/behavioral health experience)
- Certified Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist
Additional Requirements
- Successful completion of a criminal history background check and Virginia Central Registry (Social Services Registry) check.
- Current or ability to obtain certification in CPR, First Aid, and approved behavior intervention/de-escalation training.
- Ability to work on-site at the Salem office.

Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
