Position Summary
As a Teacher of Students with Cognitive Impairment, you will provide specialized instruction and support for students with cognitive disabilities, fostering growth in academic, social, and daily living skills. You’ll collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that meet each student’s unique needs. This position requires creativity, patience, and a commitment to creating structured, supportive environments where every student can thrive.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Cognitive Impairment (SA) endorsement.
- Successful student teaching experience required; two years of experience preferred.
- Meet State of Michigan Department of Human Services clearance requirements.
- Ability to lift and move students, follow individualized support plans, and work collaboratively in team environments.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: $47,496 – $92,683 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications
Work Schedule: 206 days / 7 hours daily
Paid Time Off:
- 8 Sick and 3 Personal Business Days
- Bereavement Leave
