Job Description
We’re hiring experienced Math and Science Tutors to work with middle and high school students online.
We are specifically seeking tutors who can teach one or more of the following subjects:
- Middle School Math
- Algebra I & II
- Geometry
- Precalculus
- Calculus
- Statistics
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
Applicants do not need to teach every subject listed. Please indicate the subjects and grade levels you are comfortable tutoring.
Tutors with AP, SAT, ACT, PSAT, or other test-prep experience are highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Teach Math and/or Science in 1:1 and small-group online settings.
- Explain complex concepts in clear, student-friendly ways.
- Customize lessons based on student needs, learning gaps, and academic goals.
- Help students with homework, test preparation, skill development, and course mastery.
- Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning.
- Use Zoom, Google Classroom, TutorBird, Meetn, virtual whiteboards, and other online learning platforms.
- Track student progress and communicate appropriately with students, parents, and Matheaze Tutors staff.
- Maintain a professional, encouraging, and engaging online learning environment.
Qualifications
- Strong subject knowledge in one or more of the following: Math, Calculus, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology.
- 3–5 years of tutoring or teaching experience preferred, or a degree/certification in Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Education, or a related field.
- College students with strong subject knowledge and tutoring experience are welcome to apply.
- Experience working with middle and/or high school students preferred.
- Strong communication, patience, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to explain concepts in multiple ways when students are struggling.
- Comfortable with online teaching technology.
- Reliable high-speed internet, computer, webcam, and microphone.
- Self-starter who can work independently while collaborating with the Matheaze Tutors team.
Preferred Qualifications
- AP course tutoring experience.
- SAT/ACT/PSAT test-prep experience.
- Previous online tutoring experience.
- Experience teaching advanced high school Math or Science courses.
- Ability to tutor multiple subjects.
Compensation
$16/hr and up, commensurate with experience, qualifications, subjects taught, and course level.
Schedule
- Part-time and flexible.
- Primarily after-school hours, evenings, and weekends.
- Tutors may set availability based on their schedules.
- Student assignments depend on tutor availability and subject demand.
