American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract at an acute care hospital in West Virginia, requiring ACLS/BLS certifications and Epic EMR experience.

Acute care hospital setting in an Operating Room (OR) department with 13 OR suites and 2 minor procedure rooms

Average of 60–70 cases per day across a wide range of surgical specialties

Common case types include general, OB/GYN, neuro, vascular, endovascular, ortho, plastics, interventional pain, ENT, eyes, and robotic (da Vinci) surgery — bariatrics and transplants are not performed here

Dedicated teams for cardiac, ortho, and vascular/endovascular service lines

Scrubbing is required for RN travelers

OR techs are available; CST is preferred for travelers

Charting is performed in Epic EMR

12-hour day shifts; weekends scheduled as needed

Rotating call required — evening call runs 6:45 PM–11:15 PM with a 30-minute response time; call rooms are available on-site

Weekend call typically runs 1–2 weekends per six-week schedule, consisting of 3–4 call shifts per weekend

Weekday call during the main OR is approximately 2–3 shifts per week; CVOR, ortho, and endo service lines may require more frequent call

Midnight call (11:15 PM–6:45 AM) is typically covered by permanent staff

Holiday coverage is handled through rotating call

Floating may be required within compatible service lines based on clinical comfort and experience (e.g., cardiac-experienced staff may float to endo or vascular; vascular/endo staff may float to general, urology, GYN, or ortho)

Active WV or compact RN license required

Current BLS (AHA) certification required; ACLS (AHA) required

Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience required

Strong scrub skills are a plus

Epic EMR experience required

Valid, unexpired driver's license required for consideration

Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (100-mile radius rule applies to one other WVU network facility)

Orientation typically consists of 2 shifts in the OR, with additional shifts available if needed; travelers are paired with a staff member for initial call shifts

Scrubs are provided by the facility

Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a minimum 2-year break before reapplying; cumulative travel experience at WVU facilities counts toward a 1-year maximum, after which a 2-year break is required

Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time

First-time travelers are not explicitly excluded, but a strong OR background is preferred
