American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring BLS, NIHSS, and at least 2 years of specialty experience within the last year.

Work on a 36-bed telemetry/surgical unit within a hospital setting

Patient ratio of 1:6
-
Night shift schedule with 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00

13-week assignment length

Floating may be requested based on facility needs

EPIC EMR system used
-
Active RN license (VA or Compact) required in hand

Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Specialty experience required within the last year
-
EPIC charting system experience preferred

Teaching hospital experience preferred

Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, peripheral line care, respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, oxygen administration), isolation precautions/PPE, telemetry/cardiac monitoring, and medication administration (Heparin, Insulin, PCA)

Preferred skills include accessing/managing ports, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube care, wound care/wound vac, and pre/post hemodialysis management

Provide nursing care on a combined medical-surgical and telemetry unit

Care for patients with conditions including CVA, renal failure, and surgical needs

Locals accepted at the same pay rate

Candidates cannot work both travel assignments and per diem contracts simultaneously at this facility

Previous permanent employees must have a 6-month gap before returning as a traveler

RTO should be kept to a minimum, with no more than 7 days total requested and no full calendar weeks off during the assignment

All RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application and confirmed in the offer; no additional RTO will be approved after an offer is extended
