Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Night Shift Caregiver to provide exceptional care and support to residents during overnight hours. This vital role ensures the safety, comfort, and well-being of individuals with diverse needs, including seniors, those with developmental disabilities, and residents requiring memory or dementia care. As a Night Shift Caregiver, you will play a crucial part in creating a secure and nurturing environment, offering personalized assistance with daily activities and responding promptly to residents' needs throughout the night. Responsibilities
- Monitor residents’ safety and well-being throughout the night, ensuring a secure environment.
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and protocols.
- Observe and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to track health status.
- Manage behavioral challenges related to dementia or other cognitive impairments with patience and care.
- Operate manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts safely for resident transfers.
- Maintain detailed documentation using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems for each resident’s care plan and incidents.
- Perform light cleaning duties to uphold hygiene standards in resident rooms and common areas.
- Respond swiftly to emergency situations with first aid or CPR when necessary.
- Support residents’ social engagement by encouraging participation in activities suited to their abilities.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, memory care, dementia management, and geriatrics best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs and provide personal care with compassion.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in medication administration is advantageous.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral management skills is a plus.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, group home environments, and long-term care protocols is desirable.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform manual handling tasks as needed.
- Valid driver’s license for driving residents or transportation duties is preferred but not mandatory.
