Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the age group 3-11 to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient care, with expertise in managing diverse medical needs within pediatric and adolescent populations. Duties
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health histories, to inform individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols, including IV infusions when necessary.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as specimen collection, processing, and basic medical imaging procedures.
- Provide specialized pediatric nursing care, including managing conditions like dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and developmental disabilities.
- Support acute pain management strategies and participate in emergency response activities within the scope of practice.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients and their families on health management techniques, medication administration, and post-discharge care planning.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals in complex cases involving trauma, infectious diseases, or chronic conditions such as geriatrics or hospice care.
Requirements
- Valid licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current certification to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Proven experience working with children and adolescents in settings such as hospitals, clinics, assisted living facilities, or long-term care environments.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for documentation and patient management.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to pediatric and adult care.
- Experience with IV insertion, catheterization, tube feeding management, and sterile technique procedures.
- Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and medical documentation standards for accurate record keeping.
- Ability to handle emergency situations effectively within Level I Trauma Center or ICU settings; experience in acute care or hospital medicine is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and provide clear patient education.
- Additional skills such as pain management techniques, infection control practices, behavioral health support, or working with individuals with disabilities are advantageous.
