Location: Mount Pleasant, Iowa
Pay: $26.00–$35.00 per hour (based on experience and demonstrated ability)

Position Summary
Halo Design-Build is seeking an experienced framing carpenter who is ready to begin taking on a leadership role within our framing crew.
The right candidate will join the team as a Framing Leadman, working under the direction of our Framing Foreman. This person should already be a strong, well-rounded carpenter who can read plans, perform layout, direct a small crew, and help maintain quality and productivity on the jobsite.
This position is intended for someone who wants more than another carpenter job. It offers a genuine opportunity to develop the leadership, planning, communication, and crew-management skills required to advance into a Framing Foreman position. Advancement will be based on demonstrated performance, dependability, leadership ability, workmanship, and readiness to accept greater responsibility.
Types of Projects
Our framing team works on a variety of projects, including:
- Custom homes
- Post-frame buildings
- Light commercial projects
- Decks and exterior structures
- Occasional finish-carpentry work
Initial Leadership Responsibilities
As a Framing Leadman, you will work alongside the crew while beginning to assume responsibility for portions of the team’s daily operation. Responsibilities will include:
- Directing a small crew and assigning daily work
- Reading and interpreting construction plans
- Performing layout and framing calculations
- Identifying plan discrepancies or jobsite conflicts before they create delays
- Communicating labor progress, material needs, and jobsite concerns to the Framing Foreman
- Helping the crew understand daily production goals and priorities
- Monitoring workmanship and ensuring work meets Halo’s quality standards
- Reinforcing jobsite safety expectations
- Training and mentoring less-experienced carpenters
- Working productively with the crew while leading by example
- Helping maintain an organized, efficient, and professional jobsite
- Communicating problems early and participating in solutions
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have:
- Strong residential or commercial framing experience
- The ability to read and interpret construction plans independently
- Proficiency with common framing tools and equipment
- The ability to perform layout, measurements, and framing calculations accurately
- Previous experience directing or providing day-to-day guidance to other carpenters
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- The physical ability to perform framing work in varying weather conditions, work at heights, climb ladders, and safely lift and carry construction materials
- A willingness to travel to project sites within the company’s service area
The Person We’re Looking For
Technical ability is important, but this position also requires the right approach to leadership. The ideal candidate:
- Is dependable and consistently punctual
- Maintains high workmanship standards
- Takes ownership without requiring constant supervision
- Communicates problems early, clearly, and professionally
- Is humble, coachable, and willing to continue learning
- Patiently teaches less-experienced employees
- Works with urgency while protecting safety and quality
- Earns the respect of the crew through consistency and example
- Accepts accountability and helps hold others accountable
- Wants to grow into greater responsibility rather than simply receive a title
Path to Foreman
The Framing Leadman will have the opportunity to advance into a Framing Foreman position after demonstrating the ability to:
- Plan and organize work effectively
- Lead a crew respectfully and consistently
- Maintain Halo’s quality and safety expectations
- Communicate labor, material, equipment, and scheduling needs
- Recognize and address problems before they affect the project
- Train and develop other members of the crew
- Balance productivity with quality and jobsite safety
- Accept ownership for the crew’s performance and assigned project responsibilities
Promotion is not based on tenure alone. It will be earned through demonstrated leadership, sound judgment, technical ability, communication, and consistent performance.
