Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
An employee in this class may be called upon to do any or all of the following: These examples do not include all of the tasks which an employee may be expected to perform.
Perform grounds maintenance work including: cut grass, trim trees and shrubbery, hoe tree wells and flower beds, clear curbing and sidewalks.
Perform simple carpentry, plumbing and other insulation and repair activities.
Repair and replace switches, sockets, light fixtures, broken windows and shades, defective pipes and other worn out or defective items.
Assist with maintaining heating and cooling operations.
Inspect grounds and/or equipment to determine the need for repairs.
Prepare and maintain records and reports, whether or paper or computerized systems as required.
May open and lock County buildings.
May make safety inspections of equipment and buildings
Assemble desks, cabinets, bookshelves and other items.
Install floor and ceiling tile, linoleum and Formica
Assist with the remodeling process.
Remove, construct or modify partitions.
Repair and replace windows and screens
Repair and replace toilets, lavatory faucets, tubs and other plumbing fixtures.
Operate power equipment and other tools and equipment.
Repair and maintain mechanical equipment as required.
Assist with installing telephone and computer wiring.
Recognize problems with facilities and equipment to determine the need for repairs.
Perform related work as required.
Desirable Education, Experience and/or Qualifications
:
An employee in this class, upon appointment should have the equivalent of the following training, qualifications and/or experience.
Experience of three (3) to six (6) months in performing a variety of repair activities including the repair and maintenance of commercial buildings and grounds.
Demonstrate computer skills.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
Reasonable knowledge of the tools, materials, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment, buildings and grounds.
Reasonable knowledge of the operation and maintenance requirements of fumes, boilers, ventilation systems, refrigeration equipment and heating and cooling systems.
Ability to perform a variety of maintenance tasks involving carpentry, plumbing and other repair activities.
Mechanical aptitude.
Skill in the operation of power equipment and tools.
Ability to prepare accurate records including documentation of any required paperwork.
Ability to work effectively with other employees and the public.
Ability to use any technical systems provided for the purpose of record keeping and/or other tasks that t may be needed for.
Must be able to pass LEIN requirements mandated in order to work within our secure facility.
Working Conditions and Physical Abilities:
Must be able to work in all types of outdoor weather
Must be in good physical health and with the ability to lift, balance and transport 60 pounds.
Must be able to see and notice the needs of others.
Mobility, including the ability to climb ladders, bend or crawl into awkward spaces.
Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them.
Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects.
Coordinate movement of several parts of the body, such as arms and legs, while the body is moving.
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
