Position Overview:
211 is a free, confidential helpline and referral service that connects people to essential community resources and social services. Anyone can call 211 - no income requirements, no eligibility restrictions. It serves people experiencing crisis, those needing ongoing support, and anyone simply looking for information about community services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Available 24/7 in most areas via phone, text, chat or online
- Provide a single point of contact for people seeking help
- Connect callers to local resources like food banks, shelters, utility assistance and healthcare
- Answer calls from people in need and listen to each callers situation
- Search databases of local resources and provide referrals to appropriate programs and services
- Some services include:
- Basic needs such as food, housing and clothing
- Financial assistance such as rent, utlities and emergency funds
- Healthcare and mental health services
- Employment and education resources
- Support for children, seniors and people with disabilities
- Crisis intervention and disaster assistance
- Community service and volunteer opportunities
Skills Required:
- Strong computer and telephone communication skills
- Bilingual in Spanish (must be fluent)
- Excellent customer service abilities
- Ability to work independently and follow guidelines
- Familiarity with social services systems a plus
Training & Schedule:
New hire training will take place Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm for one month. Once training is completed you will be moved to your designated shift but you must have the flexibility to work an 8 hour shift between the hours of 8:00am-8:00pm and have weekend availability. We work on a rotating schedule that is published at least 2 weeks in advance and 40 hours a week are guaranteed.
Pay Rate:
The position starts out at $18.00/hour and requires all employees to go through an internal vetting process during your first week to confirm your bilingual proficiency. If you meet our bilingual requirements, your pay rate will be increased to $18.50/hour. Due to the populations we service, we do require fluency in Spanish.
