Job Summary
We are looking for Curious people to join our team as a Part Time Seasonal Retail Associate for our late-summer through autumn season!
Our shop is located in downtown Salem, MA and offers a unique collection of antiques, toys, games, apparel, and curious collectibles!
As a member of the Black Cat team, you will help our customers with fun and friendly customer service, support the other team members, keep the store and employee areas neat and clean, and help ensure our guests get a memorable shopping experience!
We want folks who come in to work with a positive attitude, a customer service-oriented mindset, enjoy working with children of all ages, and who want to contribute to the success of the team and the business as a whole!
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly, providing friendly and professional assistance throughout their shopping journey
- Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems efficiently for retail sales transactions, including cash register operations and cash handling
- Restock shelves, organize merchandise, and assist with merchandising efforts to maintain an attractive store presentation
- Assist with sales floor operations, interacting with customers, serving as loss prevention, keeping the flow of guests coming into the store at a comfortable level, and
- Support sales goals with your product knowledge, and promoting tour and museum ticket sales.
Experience
- Prior retail sales or experience preferred; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are essential
- Supervising experience is a plus, especially in guiding and organizing team members
- Bilingual skills are highly valued to serve diverse customer needs effectively
- Familiarity with POS systems, cash register operations, and basic retail math is advantageous
- Strong communication skills, including phone etiquette and customer service expertise, are necessary for success in this role
- Ability to handle cash drawer handling accurately and perform retail sales transactions efficiently
